I created this page for poems that are a bit different than my other poems. They are more about my thoughts on topics in general rather than spiritual poems.

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life" John 5:24

I wrote this poem to help myself and maybe others understand why someone decides to take their own life. It brings some understanding for me, and I hope, to others to often confusing sets of circumstances. I hope that it offers others a possible explanation for something that is so difficult to understand.

Like drizzling rain, sadness pours all around me.

Like a north wind, a chill swarms all about me.

A deep sadness dwells inside me as I remember.

A dense fog fills my mind as I mourn.

Could there have been another way to end the pain?

Could I have said or done something to lesson your pain?

Should I have offered to you, more than I did?

Should my ears have heard more than they could?

We passed by each other but spoke, no words.

We glanced at each other, yet could not find the needed words.

Would you have told me that you too knew my ache of daily pain?

Had I of told you of mine, would you have told me of yours?

Unanswered questions rise from within, fall amidst the air.

Did you have dreams that were lost in the wind, never to be fullfilled?

I understand the path you chose to save the ones you loved.

I understand the courage to spare the ones you love.

It is my hope that peace you found.

within the walls of the path you chose.

It is my wish that in the your absense

you found a path to a new and brighter existance.

May you rest now, peaceful and void of pain.

Oct 2, 1944 - July 11, 2003

I wrote this poem for any and all people who have survivied a loved ones decision to end their own life. It is tragic but only God knows what is in a persons heart and only God can be their Judge.

Unless you hold their heart in yours,

how do you know their pain?

There is so much for us to know,

if insight we could gain.

Unless you cry the tear they cry,

how do you know their sorrow.

There is so much for us to feel

if their tears we could borrow.

Unless you own their saddened soul,

how do you know their plight?

There is so much for us to see,

if through their eyes we saw their fight.

Unless you own their desperation,

how do you know the cause?

There is so much for us to accept,

if we take the time to pause.

"For everything under the sun there is an explanation

all you need do is ask"
